In 2005 I finished my degree in Geophysical Sciences at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. At that time, I started to work at the Instituto Dom Luiz at the University of Lisbon as a Young Researcher throughout several projects fellowships. After that, in 2008, I started my PhD at the Environmental Physics Laboratory (EPhysLab) at the University of Vigo (Spain) under the supervision of Luis Gimeno and Nieves Lorenzo which was financed throughout a doctoral fellowship of the Portuguese Science Foundation. At the present time I am a Postdoctoral Researcher (funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation) at the Instituto Dom Luiz.
Scientific research activity has been developed in atmospheric sciences, particularly in climatology and climate change. The main research areas till now were an analysis of the frequency of cyclones and surface wind velocity for the Euro-Atlantic sector and their relationship with the teleconnections patterns as well as in analysis of extreme events in temperature in the past and future climate and their impact on society.
Recently, some work has been developed in weather type classifications. The work done till now embraces on one hand, areas like weather type frequencies and their relationship with teleconnections patterns and on other hand future weather type frequencies.
